The Trelawn Team

George and Sally are the proud owners of Trelawn and are always very happy to show prospective pets and their owners the wonderful facilities. They have bred high pedigree boxers for many years. Between them they have also owned collies, westies, labs and German shepherds.

They share a love of dogs of all breeds, shapes, sizes and from all backgrounds.
Trelawn also regularly welcomes students from local colleges and schools for work experience placements and on Duke of Edinburgh award schemes. We are firm believers in offering such a fantastic opportunity in animal care to young people.

Trelawn thoughts...

dog before grooming
Here at Trelawn we treat all dogs like our own. Our maximum capacity is 45 so we are a very manageable sized kennels and easily get to know our many boarders and their personalities! Their owners likewise! From the moment your pet arrives we do our utmost to make him feel welcome, safe and above all at home with as little stress as possible. Our belief is simple – a happy dog needs kind attention, a cosy bed, a clean run, good food and lots of exercise. Trelawn prides itself on providing all this and more. Dogs are exercised four times a day and we prefer them to socialise but we abide by the owner’s wishes and recommendations. Our numerous regulars enjoy playing with their pals time after time and new arrivals are soon keen to join in the fun! If you are looking for a boarding kennels with no canine or human interaction and very little exercise and minimum fun Trelawn is definitely not the place for your dog! Our dogs stand in the kennels wagging their tails and are very happy dogs. Please come and see for yourself!

The Trelawn boarding approach

Our lovely kennels is annually inspected by North Devon Council and we are obliged to only accept pets for boarding if their annual booster vaccinations are up to date. We also require that dogs are vaccinated against kennel cough. We therefore check these requirements at the time of booking and take a photocopy of the vaccination card to be filed in reception.

For dogs new to boarding we suggest a day care or, ideally, an overnight stay to familiarise them with life at Trelawn and to meet us all. This is a gentle approach in preparation for a longer term stay in the kennels and one which we find works very well. We stock major food brands – Wagg, Skinners, Bakers and Beta. Tinned foods include Pedigree Chum, Chappie and Caesar. We never use unbranded foods.

Owners are very welcome to bring other foods in, clearly marked with regard to amounts given, in order to keep their pet on the same diet. With regard to administering prescribed medication, in whatever form, we make no additional charge.
"We looked at many kennels, as our dog can be nervy of new situations. He's now been to stay at Trelawn several times and gets on so well, the staff are fabulous with him. He enjoys a run around in the enclosed field area and lots of cuddles. Always greeted with a happy hound when we collect him. Highly recommended!!"
